Meeting gone awry…
Have you ever led a meeting that didn’t go the way you expected. Maybe it went much better…or much worse. Maybe you felt like a champion when it was over…or you felt like a chump.
Here’s a way to deal with that. Regardless of the outcome of the meeting, when you publish your report—regardless of the format—report the positives. If your audience didn’t agree with an idea, write “We had a lively discussion.” If you didn’t make the sale, say “It became apparent that our product would not benefit this prospect at this time and we kept the door open for doing business in the future.”
Life is too damn short to focus on what didn’t happen or why your plan didn’t work. Take a closer look at what actually happened and you will discover the positive.
Waddayathink? Am I wrong? Did I miss something?
